Who can apply

  • Any current member of The Ninety-Nines, from any chapter
  • Women pilots at any stage, including student pilots
  • Anyone meeting the requirements for the specific award

You do not need to live in Indiana. These scholarships are administered by the Indiana Chapter, but women pilots anywhere are encouraged to apply.

What to submit

  • The completed application form, as the first page of your packet
  • Your resume
  • One or two letters of recommendation
  • An aviation goals statement, 250–500 words
  • An essay, about 500 words

The goals statement should cover your aviation goals, your long-term plans, and how this scholarship helps you get there.

How applications are reviewed

A selection committee reads every application as a whole. They’re looking at your commitment to aviation, your engagement with The Ninety-Nines, how clearly you’ve described your goals, and whether your materials are complete.

Every pilot’s path is different, and applications are read in that spirit. Financial need, perseverance through obstacles, and demonstrated dedication to finishing your training can all be taken into account.

Committee decisions are final. The committee may choose not to award in a category if no applicant meets the criteria.

If you’re awarded

Recipients stay involved with The Ninety-Nines and act as ambassadors for the organization. Within a year of receiving funds, you send the chapter a short “Year in Review” — how you used the money, how your training progressed, and how you stayed involved.

Involvement can mean chapter activities, volunteering, mentoring, committee work, or simply showing up to meetings and events.

Recipients who don’t send that update aren’t eligible for another Indiana Chapter scholarship until they do.

2026 recipients

To be announced on 3 October at the Fall Section Meeting.
